For the curly ladies – Nothing But model search!

Nothing But, a new line from M&M Products, is searching for natural-hair models, 18 years and older, for an upcoming video shoot in Atlanta. The video series will follow each woman’s three-week hair journey using the new product line.

Apply here if you’re interested!

Nothing But products are affordably priced and created especially for curly-haired women, regardless of ethnicity. They are made without ingredients that natural-hair enthusiasts tend to shun (i.e., petrolatum, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens, colorants, and phthalates) and help to enhance the look and condition of curly hair.

The Concept: Each woman selected will participate in a “before” video session on April 4 to discuss her hair journey with Will Williams, Director of Education and Product Development for M&M Products Company. Will will recommend a customized hair-care regime, provide Nothing But products, and lend her a portable HD camera for her to film her own use of the products over a three-week period. On April 25, she will meet again with Will for an “after” video session to discuss the experience. Final videos will include the before, after and individual videos.

Model Requirements: All women must be 18+ and have naturally curly hair. All ethnicities are welcome. Following are the hair types the company is seeking:

  • Shoulder-length, loose waves or loose ringlets
  • Ear- or collar-length, loose waves or loose ringlets
  • Short (above the ears) loose waves or loose ringlets
  • Long or shoulder-length tight curls or coils
  • Ear- or collar-length tight curls or coils
  • Short (above the ears) tight curls or coils
  • Transitioning hair, with tight curls

Models must be available between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for approximately one hour on BOTH April 4 and April 25. (Final shoot location TBD.) Snacks will be provided, and all participating models will receive the complete Nothing But collection.

To apply, complete and submit the form no later than Friday, March 30 at noon. The photo request portion of this application must show your hair in its CURRENT state and length. Each model will receive free product, a gas allowance and a $50 gift certificate to the Red Carpet Salon in Atlanta.

The company will contact selected models via phone on Friday, March 30, to schedule the video sessions for the following week.

Meet Miss Tress!

I’ve been in and out of the beauty and fashion PR arena for more years than I’d like to confess. We’re talking when beauty editors were first gaga over Retin-A as a newfound wrinkle solution, instead of just an acne cream. Since then, I’ve seen beauty standards becoming more inclusive, covering a spectrum of sizes and ethnicities. Thankfully, this makes more of us feel a bit prettier in our own right and more confident to strut our stuff.

Like you, I’m now observing the great love for hair in the media and around town. Women seem to be having happier hair days more often and on their own terms, don’t you think? I do, and I hope that this blog can help to fuel the fire and ride the wave.

I look forward to lots of hair talk, hearing how you feel about yours, how you react to hair in the media, and if the hair industry is giving you what you need to keep your strands beautiful and your spirits high.

Here’s to plenty of happier hair days ahead!
